The region boasts two floodlit slopes, allowing you to enjoy skiing and snowboarding even after sunset.

The first is the floodlit, 1km-long valley descent from the Unterschwarzachbahn station in Hinterglemm, open from Monday to Saturday until 9:30 pm The second is Piste No. 17 next to the Ebenbergbahn lift in the ski resort of Schmitten, floodlit twice a week above the rooftops of Zell am See. So, for anyone who just can’t get enough of skiing, wants to experience an atmosphere like no other, and enjoys floodlit slopes under the light of the moon should be sure to visit these!

Winter activities

Sliding fun for the whole family! Whiz through the valley on the toboggan runs on the Kohlmais, Spielberg and Reiterkogel mountains. All runs are romantically lit-up at night.

Get closer with each step to the inner peace and tranquility. Snow shoes allow you to explore the most remote corners of our magnificent natural landscape and enjoy a sunny spot of winter sun.

Enjoy an extended winter walk along 140 km of hiking trails in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. The paths are well-maintained and lead you through the magnificent, snow-covered natural landscape.

Anyone looking to experience winter in Saalbach in all its style and beauty should visit the “Sonnseit Promenade” winter trail. The circular trail, around 9.7 km long, begins on Dorfplatz square in Saalbach, continues along Ronachweg until the descent along Landstraße. Anyone feeling tired can take the bus back from Jausern. Those feeling fit can cross the bridge at Schönleitenbahn and take the approximately 3-hour walk back to the starting point.

Sport and fun for everyone! Skating over frozen lakes or performing pirouettes on the ice rink – it is quite simple: Put on your ice skates, take to the ice and enjoy the ice-cold fun!

Prove your accuracy and touch with a game of curling on the well-maintained rink at Saalbach-Hinterglemm sports centre. Curling is not just a traditional winter sport in the alpine region; it is one of the most popular activities.

This unique attraction at the end of the valley is worth a visit in winter too! The pedestrianised suspension bridge, which is lit-up at night, is 200 metres long and allows you to walk at heights of around 40 metres – even higher than the treetops!

Driving a snowmobile is similar to riding a motorbike: You need to properly lean into the bends with plenty of feeling. Experience pure action and funon a prepared skidoo route in the Jausen district of Saalbach. Instructions and driving tips are available locally.

Quad biking in the wintery Glemm valley! Drift over snow-covered, icy slopes with quads and buggies. With 60,000 square metres of land, the Glemmy Offroad Park guarantees that this winter driving sport is cool stuff for children and adults of all ages!
